Answers
The Web has become a part of the very fabric of our culture, both in the personal as well as the commercial sectors. The 21st-century consumer will look for your website not only as a source of information, but as a sign of the legimitacy of your venture. A sharp, well-designed, and informative website communicates professionalism and authenticity to potential customers, clients, or contributors. In today's world, not having a web presence is like not being listed in the yellow pages twenty years ago. It is one of the first places people will go to find you.
2. Why should I buy a domain name and hosting for it? Can't I get email and a webpage for free from many different providers?
Yes, you absolutely can get an email address and a webpage for free. Free services are well suited for personal use and the average adolescent. However, with an email address such as joesautoparts@freedomain.com, or a website such as www.freedomain.com/joesautoparts, the whole world will pretty much know that you have not invested a dime in the online aspects of your business or other venture. If that is of no concern to you, or if you are just plain broke, then by all means, go for the freebie. However, if professionalism is the image you want to present, then having your own domain name, joesautoparts.com, and an email address in that domain, such as sales@joesautoparts.com, communicates to your potential customers that you are serious enough about your business to spend the time and money required to establish your own online identity. A business that uses free email or web hosting can be perceived, warranted or not, as a "fly by night" or "amateur" operation to the net-savvy customer.
3. How effective will a website be in promoting my business or other venture?
At JSL Webintech, we believe that, unless you are Amazon or eBay, meaning that the nature of your business is such that it exists solely and completely online, you should never rely on the web as your only means of advertising or promotion. The web is meant to compliment your other advertising and promotional efforts, including print, business cards, mailings, TV & radio spots, etc. The key is to provide your website address in every aspect of your business, from invoices to advertisements to signs to business cards. Remember that your website is the place people will go to find out more about you before they ever contact you directly or walk in your store. Today's consumer values privacy and convenience. Your website allows them to get their questions answered without having to talk to a stranger or interrupt their dinner.
Promote your website, and it will certainly promote your business.
4. Do I have to write all my own content for my website?
You certainly may, but it is not required. You do not have to be a talented writer, nor do you need to hire a third-party writing talent to produce quality copy for your website when you use the services of JSL Webintech. We have the writing skills to go along with the technical skills necessary to build an attractive, informative, and readable website. Naturally, you have editorial control over your webiste, and you will provide all the relevant information, but JSL Webintech will help you present that information in the best possible wording and format.
5. Do you provide your own hosting service?
No. We are not an Internet Service Provider nor a hosting service. We confidently recommend Hostmonster to all of our clients for their web hosting needs.
We bill every project by time and materials, be it web development or IT services. We will be happy to provide you with a free, no-obligation estimate specifying the hourly rate and the expected number of hours required to complete the work. We believe you will find JSL Webintech to be extremely affordable even on a limited budget.
7. Do you require any money up front?
Generally, no. However, a modest deposit may be requested if the estimate is large, and the client is new to JSL Webintech. Generally speaking, you do not pay until the work is finished.
8. Do you ever do fixed-bid projects?
No. The nature of web development and IT services that JSL Webintech offers, and the inevitable potential for scope-creep that is inherent in any IT project, make it unwise for us to fixed-bid any project or service. The potential for loss is simply too great for it to be worth the risk.
9. Are you available on retainer?
Since a retainer agreement is very similar to a fixed-bid, again, the answer is generally, no. However, since a retainer agreement involves a cap on the number of hours that can be used by the client over a certain period of time, we may be able to negotiate a retainer agreement if circumstances warrant it, and if we determine that it will be mutually beneficial to both the client and JSL Webintech.
10. Do you offer any discounts to non-profit or church organizations?
Yes. Legitimate non-profit and church organizations receive a discounted rate. Contact us for details.
11. How do you keep your services affordable?
By experience, expertise, and effecient use of available tools. Basically, we choose not to reinvent the wheel on every project. If you are looking for a totally unique, completely customized, one-of-a-kind work of art for your website, then it is going to be expensive whether you build it, JSL Webintech builds it, or some other developer builds it for you. For web development, we make good use of existing, high quality templates and tools to shorten development time and keep your costs down.
We also strive to provide clear communication for the duration of any web development or IT services project. Because you pay only for the actual time and materials required, you are always in control of your costs. You determine if JSL Webintech spaces out the work over time, or does it all at once, so that you can fit it into your budget. There will never be any high-pressure sales or deceptive practices from JSL Webintech.
12. Do you guarantee your work?
Absolutely! Your 100% satisfaction is guaranteed. We stand behind our work and will do whatever is necessary to rectify any problems, bugs, or issues you may have with the completed project.
13. What geographical area do you serve for onsite IT services?
JSL Webintech currently serves the Indianapolis, Indiana metropolitan area for onsite IT services. Onsite IT services are subject to availability. Contact us for details. Any development work, web or custom software application, that can be done remotely is available to anyone in the United States.
14. How do I get started with JSL Webintech?
